Turns out my previous post with formatting exceeded WordPress’s limit. Or maybe Word 2010’s limit. Either way, here’s another show new show of this season.
Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu (also known as Hidamari Sketch Ecks Star Star Star) starts off with a cute short bit about Yuno accidentally breaking plates when they’re almost late for school. The opening theme song then plays. It’s cute, light, and upbeat, as expected. I don’t have lyrics or lyrics translation (because [Nutbladder] are cheap. Feel free to let me know when subs are available with karaoke. I might mux something up.)
An attempt to find the meaning of grammar. (“Isn’t it a comparative form of gram?”) An explanation of why Yuno’s xs are bigger than usual. A wonderful study montage, in its usual relaxed feel, gives us information that this is an English test. She manages to not maul any words, in contrast to Yoshino-sensei. It turns out the cooking terms WERE on the exam.
The next segment features the Landlady telling Yuno that new freshman will be moving in. (“Freshmen other than us!?”) New characters, new faces, new moe yuri couplets. Relevant to my interests. While they’re cleaning out the rooms, it is revealed that Hidamari-sou will be getting an internet connection because a girl owns a computer. Uh. What, everyone else doesn’t? This should not be news.
The third and final segment features them meeting the new freshmen. First, they meet the parents. Then the movers. Finally, the girls and the parents go out to eat. When the poor girl gets there, she’s all alone. Aww. The second freshman seems much more outgoing. As the girls come back, they meet the two freshmen who are cleaning up after their move. We’re then treated to Yuno’s recap to a picture montage. Ending theme song drops, some mellow-rock thing that’s a little too heavy on the instrumental for my taste.
On the whole, the art’s still representational rather than exact, but we’re treated to more non-chibi shots of the girls. It’s a nice improvement, and makes me think that Shaft got a budget. Hehe. Shaft. With a budget.
ThoughtsAs usual, it’s laid-back and relaxed. Definite watch.
