Kämpfer – 06

Male Natsuru wakes up to find his childhood friend Mikoto back in the country and making curry for him while dressed in nothing but an apron. (God! That’s the ultimate dream for all guys!) On their way to school, Akane does a Yoshida, but Mikoto recognises her, and Natsuru learns that they are friends. Without warning, Natsuru’s bracelet glows and he transforms into his female form away from Mikoto. Unfortunately, she gets spotted by the money-minded trio in her class and is dragged off to the class’s meido cafe, where she has to serve Shizuku. Shizuku informs Natsuru that a new Kämpfer would appear soon, and reminds her that somehow, everyone who receives an Entrails Animal from Sakura becomes a Kämpfer. The both of them are soon joined by Sakura and Shizuku tries to test if she knows anything about the Kämpfers, but all in vain.

Shizuku suggests that Sakura requests a kiss from Natsuru since she is now a meido, but the latter strongly refuses. They end up going on a date, but Natsuru finds herself the target of the new Kämpfer who is super pretty and very much to my taste and leaves Sakura behind. Akane partners with Natsuru to fight her off, but suspecting the enemy to be Mikoto, Natsuru stops the battle. At the words of Shizuku, Natsuru and Akane revert back to their original bodies and Mikoto is shocked to discover their real identities. After clearing up all confusion and throwing in the introductory seiyuu joke for Mikoto’s Chissoku Norainu, Natsuru realizes that he was supposed to be in the middle of a date with Sakura. He She rushes back to her and tries to make up for it. To her surprise, Sakura requests that she spend the night with her as apology for letting go of her hand.

Damn Natsuru. Guys and even girls alike would die to be in his shoes, kissed by the awesome Shizuku, yuriyuri with the kawaii Sakura, nakama with tsundere Akane (after transformation) and childhood friends with the pretty Mikoto (after transformation). I love the subtle seiyuu reference when Harakiri Tora dreams of being a bath-loving girl when a boy with glasses and a robot… well, you know the rest. And I do agree with Yukarin, Mamichan’s voice is soothing! Talking about seiyuuz, I had to double-check if Mikoto’s seiyuu wasn’t replaced by Nanachan, with her love of curry, but apparently it’s still Asumi Kana.

On the other hand, it’s a nice change to finally see the plot back on track about Kämpfer battles with all the main players introduced now, though I don’t mind much even if they stick to nosebleed-inducing fanservice for the entire season. Seeing male Natsuru in the  already not-so-beautiful meido outfit is more painful than sticking needles in my eyes though. Talk about fan disservice. On the positive side, we would be treated to tons of yuriyuri next week, as Sakura is going to probably try ways and means to get her hands on female Natsuru.
